Jay Adams, One of the Original Z Boys has passed away from a Massive Heart Attack at the age of 53.
Jay Adams also know as “The Original Seed”, started his career as a Member of Z-Boys Skate Team Member, along woth Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva. He was the first member to compete in the Bahne-Cadillac Del Mar Nationals in 1975. Competition was held in Del Mar, California, Taking 3rd place in the Junior Men’s Freestyle. Stacy Peralta said, “Adams is probably not the greatest skater of all time, but I can say without fear of being wrong that he is clearly the archetype of modern-day skateboarding.”
In 2001 Adams was featured in the Award Winning Documentary “Dogtown and Z-Boys” and in 2005 the dramatized film about the Z-Boys called “Lords of Dogtown”. In the film Emile Hirshe played Jay Adams and received positive reviews of his portrayal.
Skateboarding pros and celebs alike have been taking to Twitter to remember and pay tribute to Adams in the wake of his death. “Goodbye Jay Adams. Thank you for inspiring us to get vertical and to keep pushing the limits of what is possible,” Tony Hawk posted.
Emile Hirshe wrote on via Twitter “We lost a true wild man with the passing of Jayboy. Jay Adams was a legend who will be missed.”
