JJ Abrams hits back after fans consider “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as a rip-off of the original trilogy.
Huh?
OK, I know there is die hard “Star Wars” fans out there, however how can this be a rip-off of the trilogy? I mean I would hope it would stay in the same universe and continue the story.
Droogz and Diamonds remember, JJ Abrams was signed on later on to co-write the script. Abrams wanted a longer extension to write but Disney said no.
Writing in a way to go back to the trilogy in order to introduce new characters is perfectly fine with me. Its staying true to the story and franchise and thats what I look at first before all the technicality aspect of the film.
“It was obviously a wildly intentional thing that we go backwards, in some ways, to go forwards in the important ways,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Ultimately the structure of Star Wars itself is as classic and tried and true as you can get.”
Abrams is also is upset as much as fans are on the lack of Rey Toys.
If you don’t know who the character Rey is..
Thats Rey.
Abrams Responded..
“I wish I had more details about merchandising and the schedule,” he said. “I’m learning things as you are. I will say that it seems preposterous and wrong that the main character of the movie is not well represented in what is clearly a huge piece of the Star Warsworld in terms of merchandizing. […] I read that she wasn’t in the Monopoly game and was quickly making phone calls about this because if it were true — and it is true, and now Hasbro, of course, has said they’re going to put Rey in — it doesn’t quite make sense why she wouldn’t be there. She’s somewhat important in the story.”
